With all that is going on in the world, we might wonder what has happened to our care-free life? That was when America was supposedly great. When we look back with the wisdom of more experience, we realize those days were not so great for many. Women did not have as many rights. They needed their husband or male relative approval for things like buying a car or house. Teachers could not keep their job if they became pregnant. Domestic abuse or rape were not discussed. LGBTQ individuals were in hiding. Minorities had few rights. Today, some want to go back to the “good old days” when they had the power and privilege. The good old boys club wants to keep the status quo. We have come a long way. The rights we have fought hard for are now in danger. We might wonder – Where is God? We can look to the Psalms for guidance. The Psalms echo many of our current feelings. Sometimes, it is difficult to feel connected to God. Stop and listen. Take care of yourselves. Take the time to allow God into your life.
