The inspiration for today’s sermon comes from Isaiah’s call to prophecy. The duty of a prophet is to tell the truth in times where the truth may not be apparent and give hope when society is in despair. We can relate to this today. There are many examples of our society being self-serving and short -sighted. Some side with power and privilege. Throughout history, people have used discrimination to gain power over others. Prophets speak truth to power. They feel the pain of the marginalized people and seek justice for them. We must not be complacent. All are responsible for the behavior of our society. Not just locally but globally. There is hope for our future says the Lord.
