Being a Christian is risky business. It can be difficult to act on what we know. In today’s reading, Jesus knew better than to think the woman was the only sinner there. By siding with her, he placed himself in danger with her. Like Jesus, we must act when we know better. Without risk, there is no faith. Without faith, we cannot be with God. Many people today falsely believe that black people are inferior to white people. You cannot truly understand the oppression until you have done the work and stand with the oppressed. You must stand in the circle of risk. The only truly free person is one who has fought for their freedom. Blacks cannot be free until whites are freed from their reality of white privilege. Take a risk!
